Wooden Trays with Paper Napkins

Summer holiday started, I have a little more time to explore crafty ideas that I saw at Cultura (a craft shops in Paris).

What you'll need.

Steps:
1. Sand the wooden tray with a sandpaper to smooth the rough surface & edges. I can't find my sandpaper, hence I did not manage to sand the rough edges & surfaces.
2. Apply the acrylic paints of choice on the wooden  tray. At least 2 coats of paint is required. Ensure the paint is completely dry before you apply another coat of paint.
3. Cut out the required motif / shape from the paper napkin. Lay on the wooden tray while the paint is still wet. Use a brush to smooth it out. Needs some practice. I'm not quite there yet.. ;)
4. Finally when the paint is completely dry. Apply a few layers of varnish.

Voilà!

Chinese New Year Craft - 2015

Was busy the whole day today preparing the things needed for a craft session with the Brownies at school today. The objective is something about Chinese New Year. Initially wanted to make a dragon craft, then a pair of firecrackers. Eventually the night before, thought it will be a good idea to introduce the 12 Chinese Zodiac animals to the non-Asian kids (except for one, my daughter ;).

These were made by the kids. They had lots of fun & I had a bit of fun too.. ;)

May this year of the wooden goat brings you happiness, wealth & good health all year round!!! Meeeh meeh... !!

Patchwork blanket made from old sheets

A "New" Blanket

Finally completed the patchwork blanket made from old favorite bedsheets , pillow covers & bolster covers!! Took me almost 3 months, a project which I started in August. Fortunately I managed to complete in 2014! ;)

I started with this old bedsheet. It was one of my favourite.

I try to cut out as many prints in big squares ( 10" x 10" ) like below.

Then, arranged the prints to have a feel of the final product.

Once I'm statisfied with the arrangement, I stitched them to form a big rectangular.

l

Likewise for the back piece made from bolter & pillow covers. They are easier as the pieces were bigger!!

Stitched the 2 pieces together, I get "new" blanket!!

Mission accomplished!!!

Baby booties

I started to get into sewing in July 2014. Made these booties to surprise a friend who just gave birth to a baby girl in a August 2014. These are the first few pairs of "shoes" to start with! They are on their way & I hope that they will reach you soon!!!

Mary Jane, with reversable prints.. To match with any clothing her mommy chooses.

Colorful booties.

Polka dots! This is my favourite pair!  One can never go wrong with black & red shoes.
